Blue Marine Foundation is a charity dedicated to restoring ocean health. Our oceans face unprecedented threats: biodiversity loss, habitat destruction, and climate change are endangering the very ecosystem on which all life on Earth depends.

Overview

To raise awareness and generate funds for Blue Marine’s global projects, Blue Marine and Christie’s of London have partnered to auction artist-donated works in September 2024.

The brief

Over 20 world-renowned artists are generously participating in this philanthropic initiative, led by the eminent Serbian conceptual and performance artist, Marina Abramovic. Our mission? To bridge the gap between the art world and sustainability through the launch of Blue: Art for the Ocean.

The solution

We needed a high-impact strategy to announce Blue: Art for the Ocean to both UK and international audiences. With limited access for interviews, our media relations strategy had to be focused and impactful.

By leveraging Marina’s distinctive artwork, we aimed to secure exclusive features in both the UK and the US. We conducted a virtual interview that highlighted Marina’s dedication to ocean conservation, ensuring it resonated with a wide audience.

Our strategy succeeded, securing features in The New York Times and The Sunday Times, both online and in print.

Marina Abramovic also graced the front page of the New York Times ‘Sunday Style’, significantly amplifying visibility for Blue Marine and its crucial mission.
